To keep the modem from answering the phone Add S0=0 to your init string.
Speaker Control Init Strings
M0 Speaker always off
M1 Speaker on during connection
M2 Speaker always on (very noisy)
L0 Lowest volume
L1 Lowest volume (redundant)
L2 Medium volume
L3 Maximum volume
Making the Modem report the true connect speed
For Rockwell-based 28.8 and K56flex units, the command to show your true connect speed is W2. (For Rockwell-based PCI
modems, the command is MR=2.) The S95 commands and the &Q commands can override W2, so add S95=0 or S95=1.

CONEXANT was created when Rockwell spun-off of its Semiconductor
Systems business into a separate
company on December 31, 1998, which now is known as Conexant Systems.
NOTE: Conexant (Rockwell) does not build or sell modems.
Conexant (Rockwell) sells chip sets to
modem manufacturers who then assemble them and are responsible for drivers and support.
